Danton Remoto is the Head of News Research at TV5. He is also a segment host at Andar ng mga Balita every MWF, as well as host of the top-rating, nightly radio show called Remoto Control at Radyo 5, 92.3 News FM. He taught at Ateneo de Manila University for two decades and also worked as Director of the Office of Research and Publications, where he edited the Ateneo Literary Series. He also served as Communications Officer at the United Nations Development Programme. He was educated at Ateneo de Manila University (ASEAN Scholar for college and Robert Southwell Scholar for graduate studies), University of the Philippines (Ateneo Faculty Development Scholar), University of Stirling (British Council Scholar), and Rutgers University (Fulbright Scholar). He was also a research fellow at the National University of Singapore and the National University of Malaysia. He has published 15 books and has won writing awards from the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Galian sa Arte at Tula, National Commission on Culture and the Arts, Palanca Awards for Literature, Philippine Board on Books for Young People, Philippines Free Press Magazine, Philippine Graphic Magazine, and the Philippine Literary Arts Council. He also won writing awards at the Stirling District Arts Council Literary Competition in Scotland as well as the Procyon Prize in the United States. His poetry and prose have been published in Japan, France, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
